Footnotes With Friel was a special segment that appeared on the July 11, 2011 episode of Red Eye featuring frequent guest Courtney Friel. During this segment, Friel read a number of fan letters she got about her feet and shoes. Displayed was a split screen with Friel reading the mail on one side and a close up of her feet on the other; classical music played in the background.
Footnotes With Friel came about during her previous appearance on June 29. On this episode, Friel mentioned that she routinely got a lot of fan mail about her feet and shoes. Greg Gutfeld then said that it would be funny for her to read some of them on the air.
